Pearl barley

I live in the UK and discovered that this form of wheat is called "pearl barley".

Belila is DELICIOUS!

I recently had this in Egypt--it was probably my favorite new food from there! It's really great at breakfast, and I believe the coconut offered to us was lightly toasted. I am so happy for a recipe and can't wait to make some of my own! Thank you!

Thanks, you saved me a lot of searching. I have been looking for the last two years for ''wheat'' !!!!

You can make this recipe with barley, but it is not as nutritious as using WHEAT BERRIES, which is what the original recipe uses.

The term wheatberry or wheat berry refers to the entire wheat kernel (except for the hull), comprising the bran, germ, and endosperm. Wheatberries have a tan to reddish brown color and are available as either a hard or soft processed grain. (see
