Molasses with Tahini عسل أسود بالطحينة
Molasses with Tahini عسل أسود بالطحينة
Notes
This is a snack/dip as well as a dessert.
In Egypt, this is eaten as breakfast or an evening meal.
Of note:
- As you mix the ingredients, watch the interesting marks the dark molasses makes in the light colored tahini. Fun for kids to watch.

From Iraq
In Iraq, a very similar dish is consumed for breakfast.
Since sugar cane is not common in Iraq, molasses is substituted with date syrup, called dibis دبس, which is very similar to molasses with a different flavor.
Although the recipe calls for lemon juice in Iraq, in Egypt this is never the case.
You can find the recipe here and here.

Tahini spread
I enjoy it with a little maple syrup instead of molasses. It is delicious with whole grain pita and is a healthy snack similar to peanut butter and jelly.
Here in the usa we use grape
Here in the usa we use grape dibis and dish of olive oil on the side and go for it MMMMMMMM
